XLP is a youth work charity that was founded in 1996 and has been serving young people ever since. We currently deliver youth work across 9 boroughs in London. Our mission statement is: ‘To engage in long-term relationships that empower young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to complete their education, avoid anti-social behaviour, and ultimately become independent and confident contributors within their communities.’ Our Youth Work Practitioner for Lewisham Camila Robinson-Rodriguez will be leading XLPs work within this consortium.
Our role on the My Ends Project:
For the My Ends project we will be running a variety of projects within the consortium. We will be working in Haberdashers school support young people at risk of exclusion through 1-1 and group mentoring. We will be running a Girls Youth Theatre project aimed at supporting at risk girls with their confidence and self-esteem. As well as these we will be continue to run the XLP Bus on the Pepys estate. These are all long term projects that we try to connect together so that we have multiple access points with young people and get to work with them in different contexts but also help them access wider opportunities within XLP and the consortium.
